Please do…
- Search for duplicate questions or answers before posting something.
- Cite all original information that you drew your wiki from (including, of course, other ONF wikis)
- Link to persistent URLs where possible, not entry pages where the content may only feature temporarily. In particular, use the "permalink" for blog entries, not the blog's index page.
- If you are going to downvote a post, it helps the poster improve their post quality if you tell them in the comments why you downvote it. However, you only need to do that if you really think yourcriticism can help the poster improve.
- Refer, post or link to organic, helpful data that is on-topic and genuinely useful.
Please don't…
- Downvote questions, answers or data just because you disagree with them. You should downvote information that is non-useful or off topic.
- Take someone’s lengthy and thoughtful answer, add something small, and then claim it as your own work. When the community finds that out, they are liable to vote your “work” (and thus your precious reputation) down big-time.
- Link to stories via blog posts that add nothing extra. i.e. Linkjacking
- Post hoaxes.
- Moderate a story based on your opinion of its source. Quality of content, not location, is what matters.
- Wreak vengeance on another user just because they squashed your contributions in some way.
- Speculate endlessly on why you have been downvoted - just accept it and move on.
- Complain when a duplicate story finds more success than the original.
- Hawk snake oil, engage in self-PR, link to or else shill for some business you are affiliated with. You will likely be downvoted mercilessly.
